The first live seminar I ever went to that was specifically for Internet Marketing was in Anaheim California, at  Stu McLaren’s Idea Incubator in February 2006.

I tend to sit towards the front of the room at these seminars, so that I can really focus on the speakers and take good notes.

Across the aisle from me was a couple who were asking a lot of questions, and it was obvious from the questions that they were asking that they were real thinkers who cared about their clients, and that they weren’t here to just find out how to make a bunch of money.

It was obvious that this husband and wife team was used to actually having relationships with their customers, and that their interaction with them was NOT, as one “guru” has put it, “to extract as much money as possible from the wallets of their customers”.

I wound up having dinner that evening with Alex Mandossian and some other high-level business people and marketers, and wound up sitting across the table from Drs. Judith Shervin and Jim Sneichowski.

I found out that this wonderful couple had both been practicing psychotherapy for many years (hence the relationships with their clients), and they only lived about an hour from us in upstate New York!

Over the years, Melanie and I have gotten to know Judith & Jim quite well, participating in their “Soft Topic Copywriting” course, and spending time together with them socially.

We all agree that many people in the Health Care field, or other “soft” business fields like artists, don’t benefit from trying to use “hard-sell” approaches for their customers.

Not only does that “hard-sell” method not work for our type of customers, it actually offends many of them, and seeing that type of advertising sends them running in the other direction.

If you are a practitioners in the healing arts, an artist, a business person who has real relationships with your customers, or someone who just doesn’t like the “old-school” method of “beating people over the head with your marketing”, then you need this new book on the subject of soft sell marketing.

Do you know what a Rube Goldberg machine is?

Wikipedia says, “A Rube Goldberg machine is a deliberately
overengineered apparatus that performs a very simple task
in a very indirect and convoluted fashion.”

They sure are fun, aren’t they? Honda constructed one for a
commercial and it’s posted on Youtube. It’s 2 minutes long
and a joy to watch:

Here’s a brief run-down of what happened this week,

with Music, Health Care, and Business Development:

1.) Alex Mandossian informed me that I will be speaking for 300 seconds, with a timer running, at the Teleseminar Secrets Reunion in San Francisco in March.

2.) Melanie and I continued working on her upcoming BodyTalk Classes this spring = April and May.

3.) Continued to “Think Out of the Box” with Scott Jeffrey of Nonbox Consulting and Cult Branding.

4.) Consulted with Sound Healing Expert Helena Reilly regarding their ToneUp site, Sound Energy Research, and their new life living in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

5.) Had another great week with our teacher Hawks at Qi Gong and Tai Chi Chuan.

6.) Indra’s Net Music Project with Daniel Aggers = At Studio “Z”= Spent an hour on the phone with Sweetwater Technical Support to get the computer working = success!

7.) Drove in to New York City and had a great piano lesson with Kenny Werner.

8.) Attended Joel Roberts’ “Excellence In Media” 3-day seminar in NYC. The picture for this blog post is Heidi Roberts, holding baby Rebecca, Joel, myself, and Melanie.

9.) Hooked up with George Goudros of StrongerOnline.com at the seminar in NYC. I spoke with him about the possibility of working with him and Trainer of Olympic Champions, Coach Charles Poliquin.

10.) Continued to prepare for our upcoming seminar with Rich Schefren, Jay Abraham, and the other amazing teachers at the Strategic Profits seminar coming up in a couple of weeks. Click the link below for more information on their amazing programs:

Here’s a brief run-down of what happened this week,

1.) Melanie and I set dates for our Health Care Classes in the Hudson Valley:
–BodyTalk Access Classes–April 2nd, 3rd, and 5th
–BodyTalk Modules 1 and 2–May 15th through 19th

2.) North Dakota BodyTalk Classes have been rescheduled from June to August.

3.) Continued working on our upcoming Seminar and Home Study Course, “How To Muscle Test: The Art and Science of Kinesiology”

4.) Business Development:
–Finalized plans for upcoming Media seminar with Joel Robers in NYC.
–Finalized plans for upcoming Strategic Profits seminar with Rich Schefren in Orlando, FL

5.) Tools and Coaching We’re Using, and Recommend:
–I installed the “Faster Audio” program, and it’s AWESOME!!

–the Faster Audio program is a part of this program that we HIGHLY RECOMMEND:

–there’s just too much to list here about this Business Acceleration Program.

6.) Music Studio = worked on getting computer updated and installing new software instruments/programs

7.) Solo Piano project = researching and contacting studios to record solo piano = both here in the Hudson Valley, and in New York City

8.) Progressive Classical Music project = “Indra’s Net” = scheduled more rehearsals.

9.) Peter Morrison band project = reconnected with Peter and scheduled rehearsal for upcoming week.

10.) Continuing to work with Musical Mentor Kenny Werner and Electronic Marketing Mentor Alex Mandossian on projects for them. I can’t really talk about it here, or some big guy named Vinnie would have to show up at your house and hurt you. I’ll tell you more as I am able.

You Are Who Your Friends Are

It’s important to acknowledge the power of positive thinking. This goes not only for yourself, but also for the people you surround yourself with.

Attitudes are catchy. Whether they’re positive or negative, they’re rubbing off on you. If you’re around people who complain, judge, spread negative gossip, blame others, and play victim roles, chances are you do, too. (ouch!)

Who are you around most? Are they achieving their dreams or complaining about their circumstances? Do they look up to others who are go-getters and high achievers, or do they make fun of them and roll their eyes? How do they treat you?

If you’re spending time with people who don’t support your dreams and goals, it’s seriously time to look at whom you call your friends!

Successful people surround themselves with successful people. Plain and simple. They want to be around others who’re achieving goals and making things happen. They want to know their secrets and strategies for winning. They’re not embarrassed to be hanging out with people who are studying for success and making good money.

You, too, need to surround youself with positive influences. Join the clubs that other successful people are in, learn what they’re learning. It doesn’t matter from what walk of lifeyou are coming from. Show up and transform youself into an acheiver! Success isn’t just for those who have had it easy, who came from supportive homes or had expensive educations. They’re are so many successful people who rose up from very poor conditions and and overcame obstacles to acheive the goals they set their sights on.

But they didn’t get there by hanging out with negative energy-drainers!

Have you been limiting your success by letting yourself be influenced by other people’s negative energy? Make a list of all the people you spend time with and make a note of the kind of personality they have. How many negative people are you around every day? How many people on your list are achieving their dreams, supporting yours and taking responsibility for their lives? You’re better off spending time alone than with people who hold themselves back with a victim mentality.

Simply stop spending time with the negative people on your list. Join the clubs that will put you in with a positive circle of friends. Set a new standard for yourself and don’t become friends with people who fall below that standard. Invite your old friends to come with you and you’ll know who has potential and who to stop being around entirely.

You have to take responsibility for this area of your life. Look around you at the people you call friends. Does it make you proud? Are you selling yourself short? Or are you on the right track?

Keep successful people around you and you will be successful! Be around people who can accomplish their goals and you will accomplish yours, too! The choice is yours to make.
