Tim Ferris, Alex Mandossian, Ken McCarthy, Basketball, and the “Four-Hour Work Week”

Last night I was on a Virtual Book Tour with one of my Internet Marketing mentors, Alex Mandossian. He was interviewing Tim Ferris, best-selling author of “The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich”. Tim was calling in from the airport in Costa Rica. I took nine pages of notes (typing) in 90 minutes.
I had previously heard Tim interviewed by another one of my Internet Marketing mentors, Ken McCarthy. You can listen to the audio replay on Ken’s blog by clicking on this link for The 4-Hour Workweek = Reality or Pipedream?
Tim Ferris is a Princeton Graduate who worked 80 to 100 hours a week for five years. (I did the same thing myself, from 1994 to 1999.)
His business was very successful, making over $100,000 per month, but it was killing him. He took a vacation and decided that he was going to either figure out a way to change his business and change his life, or he was just going to quit.
Tim is a smart guy, and he created a System called the DEAL method; Define what it is that you want, Eliminate the things that aren’t working for you, Automate your business as much as possible, and Liberate yourself by delegating as much as possible to other people.
He said that the biggest mistake that people make is trying to Delegate stuff without Eliminating first.
Other tips:
–Reduce the complex to the simple, keeping in mind four or five things at a time
–Only check your email twice a day, at designated times
–Focus on one thing per day that you must get done, and do it = that will make you exponentially more productive
–Follow the order presented in the book, because there is a certain sequence of applying Tim’s Principles
–If you ask the right questions, you will get the right answers
–Check out the global marketplace to see if your money, products, and services are worth more elsewhere
–Delegating things is a management task, so if you don’t know, you will need to learn how, and be patient with yourself = IT’S A PRACTICE
According to Tim, his principles are the path to becoming one of the “New Rich”, specializing in “Lifestyle Development”,
working about 1 hour per day.
Sounds good to me! What do you think? I would love to see your comments.
After you purchase the book, there are bonus chapters online at his website.
I suggest you immediately go to Amazon and order this book by clicking on this link for Tim Ferris = The 4-Hour Work Week: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich.
I ordered the book from Amazon myself, and am waiting for it to arrive. I’ll let you know how it works for me!
Thank you.
P.S. What did this have to do with basketball? I got so inspired by last night’s Virtual Book Tour that I got up 5:00 am this morning, stretched, went to the park, and played basketball as the sun was coming up. It felt great.
